Culture and Arts

Culture and art are the two elements that have continued to unite Congolese abroad as well as those at home. They also made it possible not only to discover a Congo which has a smile and the hope of a better tomorrow in the midst of its pain, but also a people which has human and cultural values that it shares with all of humanity.

Neither the wars, nor the inadequacy on foreign lands, nor the distance from the land of the ancestors succeeded in making the Congolese of the diaspora ignore or lose “their culture”. Around our music, our dishes, our dances and artistic expressions, our unity prevails over our differences. In this national unity, the Congolese abroad and those at home have discovered both their way of life, know-how and life skills.

Like other peoples who have won the admiration of others, FICE presents Congolese culture and art as a driving force and catalyst for sustainable development. He will work with political, cultural and artistic actors to better understand the world and others. Thus the Congolese culture will become a powerful engine for development through social, economic and environmental impacts on a national and international scale.

As part of its actions and promotion for culture and art in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Congolese communities abroad, FICE offers:

  • Include culture as a public policy priority (arts education, transmission of traditional knowledge, promotion of intercultural dialogue;

  • Promote not only culture and the arts as an expression, but also as an object of multidisciplinary scientific and academic research;

  • Ensure the protection of copyrights and rights associated with artists;

  • Identify more specific information on the contribution of the cultural sector to economic development and poverty reduction;

  • Develop real sanctuaries (museums, foundations, etc.) to protect artistic works and cultural expressions under threat, in order to make them legally inalienable;

  • Capitalize on local know-how that has remained too often forgotten in today's artistic and craft landscape by reactivating them and above all by adapting them to contemporary needs, particularly in sustainable environment projects;

  • Use the potential of the arts to develop entrepreneurship and social cohesion, especially among young people.
